    Works great for what I needed. Make sure to buy 3/8 inch screws for mounting because I bought 1/2 inch and they were too big. Mounting holes are for 3/8.

    I previously tried an external clamp on action wrench and it was a really pain to use. After using a barrel vise, I wish I hadn’t wasted money on an action wrench.

    I bolted mine to a 2” piece of trailer hitch stock, so I could use the 2” trailer receiver on my truck to mount the vise while at the range.

    The leather pads on this mode do an excellent job gripping the barrel of a factory installed Savage barrel for removal.

    There was no rotational slippage at all when I went to work removing the smooth barrel nut with a pipe wrench. The vise held equally as well when headspacing a new barrel and torquing a new barrel nut.

    Definitely a five star recommendation.

    Really saved the day.

    My suppressor melt onto the barrel and I can't find way to remove it without damaging the surface finish.

    I clamped the barrel vise to my bench using standard F clamps and took the entire upper and threw it into this vise. I was able to remove the suppressor without any issues.

    Couldn't have done all of that without this handy tool.
